Broadcast Engineer
NorthStar Studios is looking for a Broadcast Engineer to provide maintenance of all equipment utilized in its’ production facility. The successful candidate will possess 3-5 years experience as a television maintenance engineer in broadcasting, production, and post-production. An Associates Degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications or Broadcast Engineering is a must. SBE certification is a plus.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Supervise the day-to-day technical operations of the production and post production facility and assigned staff.
- Configure and interconnect all electronics for live and taped studio production.
- Maintain and repair, and/or oversee the repair, of all facility electronic equipment.
- Supervise the staff responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the NorthStar Studios plant including all electrical, HVAC, fire suppression, plumbing systems as well as building repairs, maintenance, routine construction and housekeeping.
- Organize and track use of production and post production technical assets.
- Reallocate engineering resources as daily needs change.
- Repair and repurpose engineering assets.
- Support sales production initiation
- Provide administrative support (i.e. purchase orders and bids) as requested
- Manage and support budgetary guidelines set forth by the Senior Director of Engineering and Facility Operations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA'S):
- Extensive working knowledge of television broadcast engineering principles and practices.
- Extensive working knowledge of television broadcast and production related equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ability to manage staff in a professional manner.
- Ability to manage, schedule and support a staff.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot, to component level, most electronics.
- Basic knowledge of structural engineering.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and travel as requested.
